Our Story

Our Story

Nestled in the beautiful Ararimu Valley, northwest of Auckland, West Brook is one of New Zealand’s oldest and most respected boutique wineries. The story begins in Croatia, with the renowned winemaking Ivicevich family and continues with their move to New Zealand, the establishment of the Sunnyvale vineyard in West Auckland in 1935, and the move to Waimauku in 1999.

Our skilled winemakers proudly continue this extraordinary legacy, producing iconic hand-crafted wines using time-honoured traditional and innovative techniques. We boast multiple award-winning wines including our outstanding Chardonnays and Rieslings.

Grapes are sourced from our home vineyard in Waimauku as well as other top New Zealand wine regions. West Brook wines truly reflect the incredible depth, diversity and flavours of Aotearoa.

West Brook’s Cellar Door looks down over terraces and across the pretty brook-fed lily pond to row after row of vines. We welcome you to visit and enjoy a guided tasting with our friendly and knowledgeable team. Open 7 days 11am-5pm.

Went to a few wineries close to riverhead/kumeu, this is the best one so far! But this greeting you on the doorstep explains everything, you literally feel like home! Great wines too! Highly recommend!

Lovely place to stop for wine tasting. NZ$6 for six different kinds to try. Very nice atmosphere. It'll be wonderful if they can have a restaurant or even a cafe. The good news is that the owner said its coming, may be in two years time.

Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Will visit again!

Delicious wine tasting and fun, knowledgeable host. Unpretentious and it's great to see the local businesses promoting each other. Looking forward to returning.

Outstanding wines. Outstanding location. We took a wine tour that had selected North Island wineries near Auckland. We particularly enjoyed this stop. Award winning wines in a beautiful setting. They were knowledgeable and served beautiful wines.
